Let’s talk about the term I talk about a lot, body positivity. I think body positivity can mean different things to different people, but for me, it’s about affirming your body rather than putting it down.
I’m not saying that means every moment of every day you need to LOVE your body. That is an unrealistic expectation to set on yourself and would be a lot of pressure. I’m talking about body appreciation, affirming that you indeed, have a body, and that it helps you do the things you want and have to do.
An example of body positivity for me is, “I am so thankful my legs that help me walk from my apartment to my studio.” Literally, I thank it for the simplest things, but they’re also actions we usually take for granted. I think practicing that appreciation can help you feel more positively about what your body is, rather than what it “should” be.
Another way I get more in touch with appreciating my body is through meditation. Meditation allows me to be less reactive when my mind is playing tricks on me. I can notice a thought more easily and decide if it’s a true statement or if I’m just causing myself worry.
Because I love both body positivity and meditation, I decided to gift you this free body-positive mediation. It’s only a couple of minutes and it includes my favorite body affirmations.
