When Jenn and I hopped on a call to discuss doing a boudoir shoot, she let me know she had a couple of goals in mind. This is part of why talking on the phone is so important! Don’t get me wrong, e-mail and texting work, but there is nothing like a phone call where you can dig a little deeper and get to know someone! She wanted photo she could use to both enjoy for herself and her husband AND professional photos of her aerial work.

I was totally down. I’m always open to combining the experience I offer to all of my clients along with something new. Jenn wears a prosthetic but for this shoot, she was open to not wearing it.  I felt in that moment her boudoir shoot would be extremely powerful. This is why I got into boudoir. I love to photograph all bodies, all body types, and at all ages.

In my mind, my art is about showing that there are no limits and no restrictions to what is beautiful. All that is required to make the work is to show up and be yourself. Jenn’s shoot was fire because she showed her beauty and her strength. Diversity in our bodies is what makes us special and unique.

I always am talking about body-positive photography, but with this session, we also discussed what it means to be body-neutral. For me, this means sometimes not always being IN LOVE with our bodies, but always being appreciative. Boudoir is an excellent opportunity to do just that.
