“I need to lost 5-10 pounds before I do a boudoir shoot.” – says sooooooo many women.
I want to chat about this statement beacause I TRULY believe, this is NOT real. There is no 5-10 pounds you NEED to lose. This is a mental game we as women play with ourselves to put ourselves down, to make us somehow feel less than worthy.
It’s a fear tactic to make us not feel good about ourselves.
Because here is the thing, you are beautiful JUST AS YOU ARE. Actually though. I’m not just making that up, it’s actually the truth. Not only in a shoot am I professionally trained to take the most flattering angles, I actually see the best side of you and am beyond excited for you to SEE it for yourself.
I would feel so much better if I was hearing, “I want to take a couple of weeks to eat more veggies and fruit.” Or “I am so exited to be exercising again, I feel SO much better and want a shoot to celebrate how I move my body now!”
Anything you feel isn’t in the “right place” isn’t real. This is what your body is. Your body that allows you to hug, allows you to love, and enables you to BE. That is what boudoir is all about. So those 5-10 pounds, it’s not real, it’s time to challenge your mind to speak more kindly to yourself and celebrate your true authentic self.
