EVERYTIME a client walks through the studio I get SO excited. Since Grandma Selma was a bra-fitter, I grew up with nudity (in a certain context) being very normal. I think because I’m relaxed about it, my clients are as well. I think you see it in the photos too.
Enter….Jacinta!!! This badass and gorgeous babe found me through the amazing publication, Aurore, a feminist, sex-positive magazine that I supported by donating several boudoir shoots for their Kickstarter fundraiser.
One of my favorite parts about her outfits (we used a combination of her items and lingerie from the studio closet) is that she had an outfit from Burning Man she never used. Love incorporating pieces that are rarely used and then have a moment to shine in the shoot!
I asked her several questions about her session. Here is what she had to say!
1) Why did you do a Boudoir shoot?
I was introduced to Boudoir by Nomi through my friend Carly who had a Kickstarter campaign for her initiative Aurore (a feminist, sex positive magazine, check it out!) One of the bids was to do a boudoir shoot and I thought that it would be fun & empowering as I had never done anything like that. I’m pretty adventurous and who doesn’t love beautiful photos of themselves?
2) What was the experience like?
I had a blast, I was very nervous (but excited) going in. Both Nomi & Jane made me feel so comfortable. I love how they played one of my fav artists while I was getting my hair & makeup done which really help put me at ease. The overall shoot flew by, time flies when you’re having fun!
3) How did you feel after the shoot?
I felt great afterwards, really proud that I put myself out there and overall just had a lot of fun with it. I’m normally so awkward when I’m asked to pose for photos – I hate being on camera but this was such a different vibe and experience as it was all about me and I could have fun with it.
4) What does it feel like to have your photos?
I LOVE MY PHOTOS – LOVE THEM. Can’t stop looking at them hahaha. I almost wish I had pushed myself a bit further w/ some of the poses seeing some other people’s photos, but I now have a newfound appreciation for myself & my body. I’m a total babe and have the photos to prove it 😉
5) what would you say to someone who is thinking about doing a shoot?
DO IT. Most importantly, have fun with it, don’t worry about how you’ll look. It’s all about how you feel and when you feel good, you look good. JUST HAVE FUN.
