Boudoir photography can help deal with the hard parts of life in a positive way.
I believe love is the most powerful tool in the world. Love helps us feel supported and accepted. We need this every day, especially when going through rough patches (which are inevitable).
One, of the many, special parts of my boudoir studio in Brooklyn are the photoshoots I do with cancer survivors. I have a whole clientele of women who are celebrating their health with a photoshoot and photos.
I want to introduce you to one of these boudoir clients, Shawand. This is the second year we are doing a boudoir photoshoot in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Shawand is a wife, a mother, and a breast cancer activist.
Shawand and I first met over 18 months ago on Thumbtack. We did her shoot last year, and this year she decided to bring her husband who was her source of love and support during her cancer treatment. We talked a lot leading up to this year’s shoot about the partner’s role during the difficult time. She wanted photos to capture the love and support she felt with him. Here are some of her thoughts:
“This year I wanted to do something different. When you go through any trauma or medical issue, especially one that may change your body physically, your partner also goes through something as well. They are watching you go through a particular journey. I am lucky that my husband still desired me the same way he did before my surgery. I think that’s what you call unconditional love. For me to feel sexy after losing my breasts and to have the scars is one thing, but to still have my husband treat me the same way he did is truly something special … Thank You Husband….I love you…”
