THRILLED to share about this gorgeous soul, Stacy. Stacy has experienced a shoot with me twice. The first time we went for yoga photography (her passion) and the second time around we did the full-boudoir experience. I am all about your comfort. 1. What made you decide to do a shoot?

After working for years to recover my health from an autoimmune disease, I found myself in the best health and physical shape of my life.  Coincidently, I also reached middle-age and had recently seen some amazingly gorgeous pictures of Jennifer Lopez at the age of 50.  It was then and there that I created a ‘JLo Challenge’ for myself and decided that it was ‘now or never’ to get some professional shots of myself at ‘peak physique’.  My first shoot was intended to capture some yoga poses for posterity, but through the course of the shoot Nomi was able to convince me to try some lingerie shots.  Not thinking of myself as a ‘sexy person’, I reluctantly agreed for fun.  I thought I would feel uncomfortable being so ‘exposed’, but Nomi’s positive energy and non-judgmental demeanor did not leave any space for that feeling.  The shoot was surprisingly exhilarating and once I saw the pictures…WOAH, WHO’S THAT GIRL???  Yes, Madonna, there is a Santa Claus!  I could not believe that the person I saw in those pictures was me.  Eight months later, my gains from yoga and healthy diet shockingly improved and I thought to myself ‘how would those pictures look now?’  Well, there was only one way to find out, so I booked another shoot.  This time I was ready to go full steam ahead sexy and own every bit of it.  I think the difference between the shots of each shoot speak for themselves, and I look forward to getting new shots taken as I reach 50 and winning my self-created challenge!

 

2. How did you discover Boudoir by Nomi?

As I was looking for someone to take professional yoga pics, I stumbled along a website that also offered boudoir photographers.  That got me thinking that a boudoir photographer might be better able to capture the graceful, artistic look I envisioned, over a sporty vibe.  As I came across Nomi and her empowering message, combined with an amazing studio space, I knew she was the right professional for me.  I count myself lucky to have found her and I know I was guided to the right choice!

 

3. What was the experience like?

It is difficult to put into words what this experience has been for me.  On the surface, I was comfortable and the shoot was fun.  The make-up artist made me look so beautiful I could barely recognize myself.  But on the inside, this experience has been truly transformative in a way I hadn’t expected.  Traditionally, I have always thought of myself as pretty cerebral, somewhat goofy, a bit masculine, and generally stocky.  Nomi was able to bring out and reflect back to me a side that I have never accessed myself, at least that I had ever seen, considering that I don’t normally see myself from the outside in the way that others do.  That side was vulnerable, soft, and feminine, yet strong.  I was able to see that the person I see is not always the person the world sees.  I started to question myself in ways I had not before.  Why was my head and external appearance not aligned?  Did I really lack confidence in owning my appearance?  Why did I not think that I was beautiful just the way I am?  By the time I booked round 2, I was ready to put all of my inner work to the test and wanted to see how far we could push the sexy envelope.  I think we pushed it pretty good!  The person who I was during the first shoot is eons away from the person I am now and how comfortable I am in my own skin.  I will be forever grateful for that gift.  I wish I could do this every day!

 

4. What would you say to someone considering doing a shoot?

Just do it!  I know, I know…cliché, easier said than done, maybe someday.  Nope, no time like the present, someday may never come…plus, why would you choose taking pictures when you’re older over when you’re younger, whether it be by a few years or a few days.  Life passes way too fast.  If someone offered you the opportunity to see the most beautiful version of you, why would you not jump on that immediately?  Like I said when I had Lasik surgery…man, why didn’t I do that sooner???  You will not regret it, and that is a promise!
