With Nomi Ellenson, Boudoir by Nomi
Through that simple change in perspective, we begin taking control of our own energy. By investing in daily practices like journaling and meditation we channel those emotions into powerful assets.
In seeing our emotions as a great strength, we unleash our feminine capacity. We need to be good to ourselves, kind to ourselves, to allow that capacity to grow and feel more powerful.
Meditation and journaling are ways to center myself and connect in a more authentic and affirming way. They allow me to reprogram the neural pathways to a more affirming train of thought. If I ever feel like I’m going through a negative spiral of doubt, to pause for a moment, be calm and breathe allows me to change that course.
Whether you’re just beginning your own meditation habits or looking to enhance your current practices, these tips have helped me along the way.
Start Somewhere
Today, I can easily meditate for 20 minutes at a time, but that didn’t happen immediately. The important thing is getting started. Begin with three to five minutes of guided mediation and continue growing from there. I found Deepak Chopra’s app to be a powerful resource.
Ready to find your favorite meditation? These three are mainstays on my playlist:
Find Your Flow
Once you’ve gotten started, continue to build your routine. Many people begin their morning with meditation and journaling to set their intentions and emotions for a successful day ahead. For me, that looks like making morning coffee, sitting down to meditate, then spending a few minutes journaling after finding my most centering, affirming thoughts.
While routine can encourage frequent practice, it’s not necessary to be fully orthodox about when and how often you make time for mindfulness. It’s important just to be aware that meditation is possible. But my truth is that I’m always much more in touch with myself during the day when I do it.
Give Yourself Prompts
Taking your thoughts and putting pen to paper is a powerful way to begin manifesting your goals. Rather than discounting your dreams as too lofty or unreachable, journaling invites you to open your mind and explore. If you’re feeling particularly negative, focusing on what you’re grateful for is a powerful change of pace for those emotions.
Unsure of how to begin? Find that perfect notebook, perhaps from browsing a stationary store or visiting a favorite boutique. From there, giving yourself writing prompts is a great way to get started and center your thoughts. These are three of my favorites:
- If I could have anything I want, what would it be?
- What 10 things am I most thankful for today?
- What are the words I want to live by?
Ready to unleash your feminine capacity? Set aside time for meditation and journaling, even for just a few minutes, to feel the emotional alignment that can change the outcome of your day. Much like a boudoir photography session is an act of self-love, care, and discovery, the time you spend dedicated to mindfulness is a segway to renewed energy.
